A Super Sixth Week for KNIGHT TERRORS!
The 2023 SUPERMAN ANNUAL joins KNIGHT TERRORS #3 and four other tie-in issues as the event heads to a close! PLUS, FOC for the first SUPERMAN hardcover collection!
SUPERMAN ANNUAL AND KNIGHT TERRORS #3 are both available in comic stores TODAY! I’m covering the whole spectrum with these two essential issues featuring a whole host of exciting artists! Let’s start with The Big Blue Boy Scout:
THE CITY OF SECRETS
METROPOLIS'S SECRETS ARE REVEALED! Lois Lane is now editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet, but at heart she'll always be an investigative reporter. And lately Metropolis has had a whole new set of secrets she must uncover. Even if it means investigating her own husband...Superman! Featuring Livewire, Parasite, and Mercy, this special issue is your next big puzzle piece leading to a massive Superman crossover in 2024! Don't miss out!
Mahmud Asrar is really really good at drawing DC heroes. I was always a fan of his work at Marvel, especially Conan, but it was amazing to see his work on last years Batman vs Robin mini-series, so I was beyond excited when he and Dave McCaig delivered this knockout cover for the Superman Annual issue:
That excitement carried into the interior pages, where we split the issue into multiple segments. Here’s a quick look at a few of them:
I’ve been posting all the great variants for this issue on my socials, but here’s an intergalactic gallery of them all right here:

Okay, Knight Terrors time. Let’s do this from the top!
KNIGHT TERRORS: DEAD BY DAWN
DEADMAN VS. DAMIAN! Welcome back, ghouls and ghosts! Deadman here--Boston Brand, again! My horror adventure continues as the Sleepless Knights attack us. But now I have a new problem: Batman's son Damian is furious and keeps trying to fight me! My only safe haven is...the House of Horror.
If you thought Ivan Reis hadn’t drawn enough weaponry in the first two covers, he more than made up for it in this grisly one right here (with inks by Danny Miki and colors by Brad Anderson):
Caspar, Giuseppe, Stefano, and Frank deliver the goods and then some in this extended preview of this penultimate issue:
We went colorful in this batch of variants, so check out what awaits you in stores in this second gallery below:

And as usual, we’ve got another helping of excellent tie-in issues wrapping up this week, courtesy of the writing talents that are Jeremy Adams, Alex Segura, Kenny Porter, Mark Waid, Alex Paknadel, and Dennis Culver:

As we dive into the finale and epilogue of KNIGHT TERRORS, make sure you don’t miss out on the deep dives I’ve got planned here on the Super Scary Newsletter! Big plans ahead—more interviews, Q&As, and plenty more, so press the button above to subscribe if you haven’t done so already!
And as a heads up for all you super-fans, Final Order Cut-Off for the first hardcover collection of my Superman run is THIS SUNDAY! This includes the first five issues AND the Annual, so make sure to pre-order at a comic book shop near you ASAP!
And in case you missed it, the hardcover edition of Batman - One Bad Day: Bane from myself and my Knight Terrors bookending collaborator Howard Porter is now available in comic book stores! As a massive fan of The Man Who Broke The Bat, this story was a complete joy to put together, so make sure to pick it up in its most prestige format yet!
P.S. Yesterday we lost a giant of horror cinema. William Friedkin made some incredible films over his seven decades as a director, but my favorite by far has always been The Exorcist. I've been meaning to re-watch it lately. It’s a beautiful movie. I like the director’s cut, but I’ve seen the theatrical way more. That trailer for the upcoming The Exorcist: Believer looks great, so now you can appreciate the work of a once-in-a-generation maverick filmmaker and do prep work for this new entry!
