DARK CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS #7's Final Order Cut-Off is this weekend!
The final issue of our blockbuster event DARK CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS is coming out in December and sets the stage for DC Comics in 2023. Be sure to pre-order with your comic book store this week!
The last few weeks we’ve had part of our house under construction. It’s a big project so we have a construction crew here from sun up to sun down 5 days a weeks. But I’m still working in my office here at the house. I can hear the construction all day as they work and build. It’s loud…but it’s been sort of nice, to be honest. That the soundtrack of my life is people building something.
I’ve noticed over the years how much I love to build things, and how much I love to watch people build things. Whether it’s something as simple as a Lego set, or as epic as a media Empire.
And this is an unplanned and roundabout way to talk about Dark Crisis. To me DC (and comics) should always be building. Building new exciting stories and adding to the mythology. That’s what Dark Crisis was about to me. How DC is at it’s best when it embraces it’s history and builds on it. When I started work on the series that was what we wanted to say by the end of the event…
And we’re almost there. The final issue of DARK CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS!
This final oversized conclusion has amazing art by Daniel Sampere and Alejandro Sánchez but it also has some epilogues by guest artists that we haven’t announced yet.
#6 of the series came out last week and I always saw that as the big battle issue. The fight isn’t over, but #7 is more personal and emotional. It wraps up the story and some emotional arcs set up in the first issue.
This last issue sets the stage for DC in 2023, has a few surprises, teases at a returning major threat to DC’s heroes and villains and has some first appearances.
Here is an piece of the original press release that DC Comics posted back in September for some quotes from Daniel and myself about the ending.
"It's always darkest before the dawn...and now we're there. A new dawn of the DC Universe,” said Writer Joshua Williamson. “This whole event started with death, so here we end with life. Our epic last issue shows why the DC Universe is at its best when it's adding and growing the mythology. From the start we've said this series was a love letter to the DC Universe and the big events, and readers will see that with this issue. Daniel and I put a lot of love into every page of this story. It's been one of the most rewarding and intense projects we've ever been a part of. And here in the end we launch the DCU into a new exciting direction!"
“This issue represents the culmination of the most exciting and important project I've ever been involved in,” said Artist Daniel Sampere. “Fans will find an epic, shocking and heartfelt finale. This is going to be a blast and DC fans shouldn’t miss it!”
DARK CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS #7 (OF 7)
The Great Darkness is defeated, but the final war has only just begun between the remaining heroes and Deathstroke's Dark Army! Who will be left standing? The Justice League and the Infinite Earths have returned, but at what cost? Do not miss the shocking conclusion that launches the DCU into 2023!
Here are some of the covers. The first by Daniel Sampere and Alejandro Sánchez!
The great Dan Mora did character shots of some of the returning DC heroes as a connecting variant covers.
But the cover that means the most to me is the GEORGE PEREZ TRIBUTE.

My hope is that you pick up a copy of Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #7 at your comic book store in December and you can see the love we put into the event. That it was a book about building and adding to the DC mythology. Embracing both the history and the new. After the last issue is out I’m sure I’ll do a much more detailed write-up on the whole series development.
You don’t want to miss out on this final issue, so be sure to pre-order with your comic book store this week.
This Friday I’m posting a behind the scenes look at the development of the JUSTICE LEAGUE #75: Death of the Justice League cover.
Now I’m going back to work and the loud sounds of hammers and chainsaws. Have a great week!
