New comics and updates!
Rogues #4 came out last week, the Justice League Incarnate collection comes out this week and we have some light updates.
Hello! Hope you all had an awesome weekend!
Posting this much later than I had originally planned to. This was going to be LAST Monday’s post. So that means three posts this week! Had a stomach bug make its way through my house the last weekend/week and hit everyone but me. KNOCKS ON WOOD. But taking care of my family took priority over work. Everyone is much better now, so this week is going to be a somewhat normal but slammed week as I catch up from last week while also doing this week’s work. Fun! I hope I didn’t just jinx myself.
When everyone was crashed out at night last week and the house was quiet, I watched a few horror movies. The one that stuck out the most was NOPE. Loved it. Can’t stop thinking about it. I somehow managed to avoid all the spoilers on the movie and was totally surprised by it. What an awesome movie. Highly recommended. Listening to the score now as I re-read this before posting. Werewolf by Night was also a great Halloween treat. I hope Disney+ makes that an annual tradiation.
Life has been extra busy lately. 2022 seems like a year that never slows down. Halloween celebrations, travel, along with getting some work done on the house. The end of Dark Crisis is on the horizon and I’m hard at work on SUPERMAN. Jamal’s pages are looking so great. His Jimmy is terrific. This week I’ll post a Project Status update under secret codenames and you’ll wonder if I ever sleep.
ROGUES #4 came out last week!
Gorilla City blues! All the Rogues wanted was a better life for themselves. But that’s all over thanks to all their greed and backstabbing. Those still left alive are busted up with their backs against the wall, and Grodd’s forces are closing in. With no heroes racing to save them, they must make a deadly deal with Gorilla Grodd to survive.
This mini-series had a long journey to get here. We’ll talk about this in FLASH FILES when we get to the 3rd arc of that series starting with #14 we did Rogues Reloaded. This idea of the Rogues stealing from Grodd was actually the plan for that arc. BUT we saw that it wasn’t a Flash story, it was a Rogue story. So this idea was put back in the drawer. Until 2020. Arianna Turturro reached out to me in Spring of 2020 and asked if I wanted to revisit that idea but with Black Label. I had just finished writing Flash, so I wasn’t sure I wanted to stay in that world. So at first I said no. But after a few months the idea kept swirling around in my head and I saw a way to change it up. To age the Rogues and make the story a bit more about economic anixety. So Arianna and I kept talking about it, but it didn’t become real until Leomacs was involved. I loved Basketful of Heads, the comic series Leo did with Joe Hill, and was excited that Leo was interested, but never though they’d say yes. One day it was a lot more than a yes. It was designs and thoughts and world building. They totally got what we were going for, and then it was off to the races. I’m very proud of this series. Everyone who worked on it did amazing work. And now you can read the ending!
Thank you to everyone you picked up Rogues and talked about it. Books like this one are often lost in the noise of major crisis events. (Apparently written by me?) But I’m glad this mini-series found an audience and hopefully it continues to grow and be discovered as the hardcover comes out next month.
JUSTICE LEAGUE INCARNATE
The Second Act of our DARK CRISIS TRILOGY. The hardcover collection comes out this week! Dennis Culver took point on this and did all the heavy lifting while I focused on early work on Dark Crisis. (Spoilers…if you want to know what happened to Justice League Incarnate after this series you should check out DARK CRISIS: THE DARK ARMY in a few weeks. The FOC is this week!)

Last week, James Tynion IV, Elsa Charretier and PK Colinet launched a rad kickstarter of a horror short film called ROOM SERVICE. It’s already funded but your backing can help it reach it’s amazing stretch goals!

I also wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who pre-ordered Dark Ride #2 and Dark Crisis On Infinite Earths #6! Your continued support means a lot to me.
