Yo Joe!! Welcome to the ENERGON UNIVERSE!
G.I. JOE joins the Energon Universe with DUKE and COBRA COMMANDER #1! New Transformers and G.I. Joe series coming from SKYBOUND!
Today marks the release of Void Rivals by my friend and fellow writer Robert Kirkman. You might’ve heard of him. This is an intergalactic action-packed series from him, Oblivion Song co-creator/artist Lorenzo De Felici, and Matheus Lopes!
SPOILERS BELOW! WATCH OUT!
It’s a great first issue, but the important bit is that you may have recognized a character that stood out—Autobot scientist JETFIRE, an old favorite of mine from the TRANSFORMERS G1 cartoon days:
This means just what you think it does—Autobots roll out of Void Rivals and into their own comic titles, all through the good folks at Skybound! You can also check out Skybound’s official PR here!
As a child of the ‘80s, this is really friggin exciting to see. I, like most kids my age, devoured that show and the waves upon waves of action figures it produced. I mean, I can look at the logo and hear the synthesized voice speaking:
Comic book superstar Daniel Warren Johnson of Do a Powerbomb and Wonder Woman: Dead Earth fame is bringing you all the alien robot action you can handle this October.
But where are the humans? In order to face the threat of Decepticons, we’re going to need some heroes. Some real American heroes:
G.I. JOE is here! Alongside my Knight Terrors: Superman artist Tom Reilly this December we’re bringing you Duke, a limited series about the origins of G.I. Joe as Conrad S. Hauser aka DUKE as he investigates the mysteries behind the Transformers with the fate of the world hanging in the balance:
This isn’t Tom’s first rodeo with the Joeverse by a longshot! Check out these awesome pieces he’s done of Snake Eyes and Destro YEARS AGO! Tom is a big fan and did these long before he got the gig!
And obviously if you want a sneak preview of how Tom and I work together, make sure to pick up the two-issue Knight Terrors: Superman, on sale July 18th and August 15th:
But wait, that was COBRA I mentioned earlier! In January 2024, Andrea Milana and I are bringing you the story of your favorite Commander…
Andra’s a pro when it comes to drawing masked foes, so just wait until you see what we’ve been cooking up together.
I can’t wait to share more art and plot details, but my lips are sealed until SDCC! For now, though...GET HYPED!!
